Robert the Bruce – Robert I – Great Figures in History

Robert the Bruce, born in 1274, led Scotland in the Wars of Independence against England after the death of William Wallace in 1305. He proclaimed himself king in 1306, faced betrayals and adversities, but won the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, establishing himself as a national hero until his death in 1329.
