BONNERS FERRY — Bravehearts, young lads and lasses alike are invited to come one, come all to the Boundary County Fairground to honor and learn of the life and legacy of Robert the Bruce. 

In honor of the 750th birthday of Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland, a festival has been organized for the community. As the inaugural event, organizers aim for the community to come together and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Scotland and Ireland through the lens of the life and legacy of The Bruce. 

The festival will be at the Boundary County Fairgrounds pavilion on Sunday, August 18, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  

The Bruce Festival is dedicated to preserving and promoting North Idaho’s rich Scottish and Irish heritage, organizers said. Its mission is to educate and engage the community through this historical and cultural event. 

Attendees can expect to be transported to a world of Sottish and Irish traditions and will feature, sword fighting arena, live music, storytellers, guest speakers, history lessons, activities, bagpipes and more.  

Admission is $5 for those ages 6 and up, ages 5 and under are free.  Family admission rates are available. Volunteers receive free entry.  

The festival is still looking for additional sponsors and booths.
